Disability Friendly Day at the Mississippi State Fair

Joni and Friends, a nonprofit ministry serving people with disabilities, hosted its annual Disability Friendly Day. Organizers created a space where every person felt seen, valued and loved.

“We believe that every single person is supposed to be a part of the community, that they are valuable, and we want to make them know that they are seen and that they are loved,” says Azia Smith, Area Director of Joni and Friends Mississippi and Alabama. “And so this is just a beautiful way that we get to do that. We are so excited just to be able to have people of all ages and all disabilities represented, as well.”

While the event wrapped up at 1:00 and celebrated people of all ages and abilities, bringing the community together in a powerful way. Volunteers say they're already looking ahead, hoping next year's disability friendly day will be even bigger.
