Shawn's Story

Shawn Agho, a New York native, moved to Mississippi in 1994 to play football for Jackson State but was paralyzed in a car accident early in the season. After struggling in New York with his condition, he returned to Mississippi, where the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) helped him regain independence. With support from MDRS and Jackson State, he completed his education and built a career, working for the federal government. Overcoming challenges with determination, he continues to thrive with assistive technology and a winning mindset, proving that resilience and the right support can change lives.
