Notice to Participants, Caregivers & Providers

The Mississippi Division of Medicaid (DOM) Office of Long Term Care in conjunction with the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) Office of Special Disability Programs requests your feedback in the renewal of the 1915(c) Home and Community Based Independent Living Waiver. DOM and MDRS are seeking input regarding recommended changes from participants, caregivers, providers, and other community stakeholders prior to the submission of the renewal application to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Comments or recommendations specific to this waiver must be received by December 31, 2022.

Independent Living Waiver Basics

The Independent Living Waiver is a statewide program administered by the DOM and operated by the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS). It is designed to offer assistance and services in a home or community-based setting for those who meet the criteria and qualify for Medicaid. The program allows persons to receive services and supports in their home as an alternative to nursing facility care or other institutional care.

Notice of Public Meeting

​The Quarterly Statewide Independent Living Council Meeting will be held Thursday, December 8th, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services building in Madison.

The public is invited to join and make comments.  To address the Council for public comment, person(s) should make arrangements in advance by contacting Mary Allsup at wecandoit2gether@yahoo.com or by phoning 601-853-5272.
